Review + Swatches: Sugarpill has arrived!

Last time I wrote about Sugarpill, I wrote about how I wasn't supposed to buy it.
Well. My no-buy didn't last for very long though and I ended up ordering a few things! ;)

I wanted to share my excitement when the order arrived yesterday, but I wasn't able to take pictures and what would a Sugarpill post be without pictures?!
I did tweet about it though :)

I did get some pictures today though, so here they are along with a (quite long) review!

The MA(C)scara experiment: Plush Lash

Before writing this review, I used the mascara every day for about a week.
If you want to know more about what my MA(C)scara experiment is, take a look at my first post about it.

If you want to read about what I personally like in a mascara before reading the review, you can do so in this post.

I've previously posted reviews on Fibre Rich Lash, Mascara X and Pro Lash.

Tutorial! Contest entry for stillGLAMORUS on YT

This tutorial is a contest entry for stillGLAMORUS' contest on YouTube :)

I seem to be on a roll with tutorials, haha ;)

I originally did this look for New Year's eve, but the pictures weren't great so I was planning on doing it again and I figured I might as well do it for the contest, since she asked for bright and bold! ;)

The MA(C)scara experiment: PRO Lash

I know I haven't been doing these as frequently as I would have liked!
I'm done with trying out all the mascaras and have notes written down for each and every one of them, but I just need to write the reviews, which is a bit time consuming, but I'll get to it as fast as I can!
I even have pictures taken for all the before and afters so at least that's not a problem :)

So, this third MAC mascara review is going to be on Pro Lash!
Before writing this review, I used the mascara every day for about a week.
If you want to know more about what my MA(C)scara experiment is, take a look at my first post about it.

If you want to read about what I personally like in a mascara before reading the review, you can do so in this post.

Poll time! Do you trust reviews from bloggers who got the things for free?

I've been thinking about this quite a bit after reading something like "I'll never review anything I've gotten for free" on a blog and after being sent something for free to review myself (which I haven't gotten around to yet... Of course!)

I don't trust a review any less if the product was sent for free - as long as the blogger is honest about getting the product without paying and as long as they remember to mention both good and bad things about the product. 'Cus there's always both good and bad things to say! Even if the only good thing you can think of is that the packaging is cute or the only bad thing you noticed was that the product was priced a bit high!

Share your thoughts! :)

Do you trust reviews from bloggers who got the things for free?

As long as they\'re honest about getting the things for free!

No! I don\'t believe they can do an unbiased review when they\'ve gotten the product for free!

As long as they\'re not being paid to do the review!

Hair product haul!

Wondering why I don't think I should buy more beauty products this month and therefore can't get Sugarpill, which I talked about yesterday?

Lemming: Sugerpill Cosmetics

To those of you who haven't heard (or, those of you who live under a rock?), Shrinkle's new cosmetic line Sugarpill launched this past Sunday!

I don't know about you, but I love bright and bold colors.
I also love cute packaging and names!

Sugarpill seem to have it all, and I want to try the products so bad!

Where to get FOTD inspiration!

Following a blogger who posts FOTDs(Face of the Day) is a great way to follow a single person whose work you like, but if you want to see new FOTD faces, you might want to take a look at some of these sites!
  • Eyeshadowsluts was the first place I found FOTDs in, and it's a great place if you want to start posting your own FOTDs since everyone is very helpful and offer great constructive criticism if you ask for it.
  • Smokin' Makeup is a community that you have to be "accepted" in to post in. This means that you can't just go ahead and post there, but the girls who do post have been "approved" and often create some very well done and inspiring looks.
  • Mac_cosmetics is another LiveJournal community that offers some FOTDs but since it's geared towards a specific makeup company, the community members also share a lot of product/collection info as well as cosmetics sales.
  • Specktra is a huuuuuuge resource for anything beauty - including FOTDs in the FOTD forum. I found the site to be a little confusing at first but once you discover where everything is, it's no problem! :)
Specktra is a great place to go for inspiration and advice, but if you're looking to post your own FOTDs I wouldn't suggest starting on Specktra. Not that the members are rude or anything - more like the opposite, actually!
I find that a lot of members on Specktra comment on way too many posts with simple things like "love it" or "great work" without offering constructive criticism, which is what you really need if you want to improve!

Where do you go for inspiration and advice? :)

Lemming: OCC lip tars!

I believe QueenOfBlending was the first person I ever saw using the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tars, and I've been wanting them ever since!

(Image from OCC's website)

These little tubes have been raved about all over youtube, and for some reason I still haven't gotten my hands on them even though all the fun colors would be amazing to have!

The lip tars come in a wide variety of colors, including both fun primary colors as well as wearable every day shades.

Why haven't I gotten them yet?
Simple! I can't decide which ones to get.
Whenever I think about ordering them, I end up putting them all in the shopping cart on whatever website I'm looking at, and even though they're pretty reasonably priced (at $12.50 for 8 mL) I can't bring myself to spend as much money as it would cost to buy them all!

OCC lip tars can be found at
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetic's website (I've never ordered from OCC's site)
Camera Ready Cosmetics (I've ordered from that site before and everything was perfect)

Let me know in the commets:
  • Have you tried the lip tars?
  • What are your thoughts on them?
  • Do you use each color alone or do you mix them?

    Makeup Collection: Pigments and glitters!

Organizing my makeup seems to be an ongoing progress, and the only thing that looks somewhat nice right now, is my pigment stash! (Which is the highlight of my "collection" anyway, haha :) )

    So I figured I'd share ;)

Click on the picture to see the full version!

I store them in this IKEA cabinet and I like to keep them upside down to be able to see both the names and the colors more easily. Keeping them upside down also ensures that there's always a little product sitting on the insert of the jar which is much easier to use than dipping the brush into the full jar of pigment!  :)

    Silvery greens with tutorial!

I got a request to do a look using silver, but I ended up doing something with much more green than silver ;)
I think I need to use silver more often! What are your favorite looks using silver?

    New HAIR?! +purple makeup look

I got my hair cut yesterday! And bleached too, lol! ;)
It did get quite yellow, but I actually like it this way - at least until my scalp/hair can handle another bleach session ;)

    All nighter

I was in a terrible hurry when taking these pictures (as I usually am when I'm on my way to work, lol!) so I the lash glue isn't completely dry and I didn't even put the gloss coat on top of the pro longwear lip color, so I'll apologize for that! ;)
Keep reading for more pictures and list of products used :)
